Internships
The internships are the core of the summer experience in Cleveland, and students are expected to be responsible and professional employees. Internship experiences are increasingly important in the post-college job search overall, and it is important to note that several program participants have converted their SOTC internships into permanent job opportunities in Cleveland.

Events
Alumni volunteers organize a series of events to enhance the students' Cleveland experience. Events include meetings with civic leaders, community services and social events with young professionals and alumni. On average, there are 3 planned events per week, most of which include food.

Hosts
Each intern will be partnered with an adult alumni “Host” for the summer. The intent is that the host be a resource to the student regarding life after college (balancing work, family and volunteer commitments) and life in Cleveland. Since the host is an alum of the student’s school, we have found that the relationship often continues beyond the summer experience, thereby keeping the student connected to Cleveland news and opportunities and the alum connected to current life at campus.

Some events will be arranged for the students and mentors together, but some mentors coordinate more frequent interaction, like a weekly lunch.

Housing
All program participants (including those originally from Northeast Ohio) are required to live in the designated dormitory so to experience the full value of the program experience. Housing is pre-arranged by the Summer on the Cuyahoga (SOTC) program and is provided at no cost to the students.

In 2007, it is expected that all students participating in the SOTC program will live in Kusch House on the South Campus of Case Western Reserve University. Kusch is conveniently located to all museums of University Circle, just minutes from downtown Cleveland and the eastern suburbs. Public transportation is a block away, and the grocery, pharmacy and restaurants are a 10-15 minute walk. Students will enjoy a single room in a single-sex suite of six people. Each room is furnished with a bed, dresser, closet, desk, overhead light and a window fan. The dormitory is not air-conditioned. Each suite has a common room with a couch, table and chairs for small group gatherings. Every room has wireless internet access.

On the first floor of Kusch there is a small common area with a television, a small kitchen with a stove (4 burners), oven and refrigerator, as well as laundry facilities. Students planning to cook in the dormitory should provide their own dishes and cooking utensils. Parking is available near the dorm for a fee.

Students will be issued Case ID cards, and have access to all University athletic facilities, libraries, the campus center, and, for a small fee, the health service.
